Governments and private technology companies need to work closely together for future success, according to the world’s first tech ambassador. Casper Klynge – who liaises with Silicon Valley companies, and policy makers – spoke about the tech ecosystem, and how companies and governments need to work together. While Klynge clarified that the relationship is ever-evolving, the two are mutually reliant. “I think what we need, is to bring the private sector, and the public sector closer together,” he said. He added that in part, some companies don’t have enough accountability. “Being frank, I was surprised of the lack of societal responsibility of some of the managers.” Klynge’s rather unconventional role was created by the Danish government in September 2017, to help prevent issues like the Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal and assist in implementing policy such as GDPR regulations.
