Estonia’s E-Residency: A Catalyst for a Growing Economy

Estonia is the first country to offer e-Residency, a government-issued digital ID available to anyone in the world. In our increasingly globalized world, digital ID’s offer global citizens the opportunity to become global entrepreneurs, further entrenching every individual’s potential impact on the economy. These fundamental changes to how we can lower the barriers of entry and ease the process of participating in the digital trade network will ultimately lead to stronger economies, and Estonia is leading the way in this matter as an e-commerce powerhouse. Siim Sikut, Government Chief Information Officer of Estonia, joins us at the World Government Summit as a representative of the country dubbed “e-Estonia” for its proficiency in all things digital. Few are better qualified than Siim to help us understand Estonia’s journey towards becoming the most digitally integrated country on Earth.
