The world faces a global epidemic of mental health disorders, but our society has the tools to mitigate it effectively – if only we’d act. That was the message given to the delegates by a high-powered panel at the 2019 World Government Summit. Speaking during a panel titled 'Mitigating the Risk of the Next Global Epidemic,’ Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive Global, and Founder of the Huffington Post, recounted her own story of collapsing from exhaustion and sleeplessness in 2007. Mental health is expected to cost a collective $16 trillion in 2030, Dr Mehmet Oz, health expert and host of The Dr Oz Show said, speaking of the neurological impact of stress. Stress can affect people over several years and can lead some people to consider suicide.
