Biomimicry is defined by finding solutions to complex and convoluted problems through using nature’s design as guidance and inspiration. The world’s civilizations were faced with a unique and straining challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic, that turned the known systems within which we operate right onto their heads. From extreme stress on healthcare systems to a lack in the production of PPEs, to threatened food safety and security and an inability to work and countless jobs lost. It is in times such as these that innovation in problem-solving is absolutely paramount. In this session, Janine Benyus, established author and co-founder of the Biomimicry Insititute, shares her thoughts and insights on the various ways Biomimicry can help stem the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic and its devastating consequences.
